Description
The afternoon fades on the Seine River, and Paris is bathed in the intense reds and cobalt blues of the autumn sunset. The old gas lampposts will not be lit today to accompany Parisians on their evening strolls, because after a few initial moments with a flickering light, electric lamps illuminate the cobblestones, canopies, and facades of Paris's most imposing buildings. Paris, la cité de la lumière is an exclusive game for two players, designed by José Antonio Abascal (Checkpoint Charlie) and illustrated by comic book writer Oriol Hernández (Natures Mortes (Dargaud), La peau de l'ors (Dargaud)). This game takes place in two different phases. In the first phase, players will place pieces of two colors on the board (included in the box itself). The pieces are divided into spaces of one player's color, mixed spaces, or lampposts. The goal is to maximize spaces of your own color, preventing the opponent from having too many open areas. Players will alternate placing pieces on the board and reserving building pieces that they can use during the second phase of the game. In the second phase, players will place buildings in spaces of their color and mixed spaces, identifying them with a chimney of their color. The objective is for the buildings to be in contact with as many lampposts as possible, as this will determine each player's points at the end of the game. Therefore, players of Paris, la cité de la lumière will take turns placing their buildings on the board, or perform the special actions that the beautiful postcards reserve for them. These postcards can be different in each game, which will give the game a lot of variety each time it comes to the table. Once the game is over, each player will receive as many points as the number of spaces each of their buildings occupies multiplied by the number of lampposts they have placed in orthogonally adjacent spaces. In addition, points will be added for the largest set of buildings each player has, points will be subtracted for buildings remaining in each player's reserves, and finally, it will be checked whether any of the action cards grant additional points. Whoever scores the most will win this game of Paris, la cité de la lumière, but certainly won't be the last!
