Interesting facts about Fleckvieh calves:
Calves are born about once a year. It is very important that they drink their mother's milk in their first few hours. This is a special yellowish liquid called colostrum, which we humans don't like at all. It contains many antibodies, making the calf less prone to disease. After about five days, the calf has already had enough colostrum and, for the next ten months, drinks normal cow's milk until it can feed entirely on grass and other plants.
