The Ruffler Attachment #86 for Bernette Sewing Machine (02.008386 73 00/75 00) is a specialized accessory for creating uniform and regular pleats and gathers in fabric, without the need for marking or hand-making. A special gathering blade follows the vertical movement of the needle, picking up small portions of fabric with each pass and creating consistent pleats along the entire seam. The depth and frequency of the pleats are adjustable via a front lever: it is possible to make a pleat at every stitch, every 6 stitches, or every 12 stitches, or to disable the gathering completely without changing the presser foot. It is widely used in interior decorating work, ruffles, skirts, and other garments that require regular pleats.
